Embracing Empowerment: Boudoir Shoots, Body Positivity, and the Sexy Confidence Revolution

October 18, 2023

In a world that often bombards us with unrealistic beauty standards, embracing one's body and celebrating individuality has become a revolutionary act. Boudoir shoots have emerged as a powerful tool for women to reclaim their confidence, redefine beauty, and explore their sensuality in a fun and empowering way.

The Empowering Essence of Boudoir Shoots

Boudoir shoots are more than just a collection of sultry photographs; they are a celebration of femininity in all its forms. They provide a safe and liberating space for women to express themselves, free from judgment and societal expectations. These intimate photo sessions are an opportunity to showcase the beauty that exists in every curve, scar, and imperfection.

Body Positivity: A Journey, Not a Destination

Body positivity is at the heart of the boudoir movement. It's about embracing your body as it is, understanding that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. Through boudoir shoots, women can challenge conventional notions of attractiveness and learn to love the skin they're in. It's not about conforming to a certain mold but celebrating the uniqueness that makes each woman extraordinary.

Confidence: The Sexiest Outfit

Confidence is undeniably sexy, and boudoir shoots are a playground for boosting it. Stepping in front of the camera can be nerve-wracking, but it's also a powerful act of self-love. As women shed inhibitions and embrace their bodies, they radiate a magnetic confidence that transcends the photos. The shoot becomes a transformative experience, empowering women to carry that confidence into their everyday lives.

Breaking the Mold: Fun and Lighthearted Boudoir

Boudoir shoots don't have to be serious affairs. In fact, injecting a dose of fun and lightheartedness can make the experience even more empowering. Playful props, quirky poses, and genuine laughter can turn a boudoir shoot into a celebration of joy and self-expression. It's not just about looking sexy; it's about feeling fantastic and embracing your inner goddess with a wink and a smile.

The Liberation of Self-Love

In a society that often commodifies and objectifies the female form, boudoir shoots offer a counter-narrative. They put the control back in the hands of the subject, allowing women to define and capture their own narrative. Through these shoots, women can embrace their sensuality on their terms, free from external expectations.

Embracing the Journey: A Final Note

Boudoir shoots are a journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and self-love. They are a rebellion against unrealistic beauty standards, a celebration of individuality, and a declaration that every woman is inherently beautiful. Confidence is the sexiest outfit you can wear, and boudoir shoots provide the runway for women to strut their stuff with pride.

In conclusion, boudoir shoots are not just about taking stunning photographs; they're about rewriting the narrative surrounding women's bodies. They are a celebration of diversity, a proclamation of confidence, and a reminder that every woman is inherently, uniquely beautiful. So, let's embrace the boudoir revolution and celebrate the sexy, confident, and empowered individuals we are!

Destination LA TV Segment

August 17, 2023

Lights, Camera, Success! 🌟 MY Small Biz TV Debut! 🎥

So about 6 months ago Makeup the Bride was asked to be apart of Destination Channel’s show Destination LA that would be televised on CBS which is huge! I of course, said, “Yes”! This show highlights small businesses like mine and in turn I get exposure that is monumental on a National Channel, on the streaming platform Roku, on their website and on social media channels.

Picture this: I was nervous. I was excited. I wanted it to be a perfect portrayal of my business, of who I am and what I offer. Makeup the Bride is unique in how I approach each and every Bride to Be and in how I customize a bridal makeup to embrace my motto…”Your Beauty. Your Way. Your Wedding Day.” As you can imagine, all of this in a 2 minute segment including an interview is challenging but I was up for it!

Exposure like this is like rocket fuel for a small business. 🔥💼 Suddenly, Makeup the Bride is a more recognizable brand and the name is spoken in more circles around town. 🗣️💬 And don't even get us started on the flood of messages and calls that came pouring in. 💌📞

Now, let's talk SEO lingo – you know, those magical words that make Google love you? My online presence is moving in the right direction! 🚀✨ That TV segment brought Makeup the Bride some serious street cred! I am always looking for credibility and validity with my product that I put out there. One of the major actions that people can take that make a huge impact on a small business is Writing a Review if you were happy with the service! Ask the vendor or business which platform is best for this and even if it’s just a few sentences, it is so appreciated and creates more of that street cred mentioned above. But I digress…..

So, dear small biz dreamers, take it from Makeup the Bride: TV spotlights aren’t just about looking fabulous (although Makeup the Bride totally nailed that part-lol). It's about skyrocketing your exposure and boosting your brand. Lights, camera, business magic! 🎥🌟

Scroll to my Featured ON page to view the TV segment in its entirety! I had so much fun shooting it and my model and Bride to Be Alex seen above was just amazing. Loved creating my signature Bridal makeup look for her. Can’t wait to give you the one of a kind Makeup the Bride experience! Call me today!

The Veil Dilemma

The Veil Dilemma: Unveiling the Importance of Asking Brides

Hey there, beauties! 💄✨ As makeup artists, we're all about creating the perfect bridal look that leaves our brides feeling like the queens they are on their big day. But here's a tiny detail that often goes unnoticed—veils! Today, we're going to talk about why it's crucial to ask the question, "Do you plan on wearing a veil?" It may seem like a small consideration, but trust me, it can make a huge difference in the final look and ensure a flawless, windproof, and lipstick-friendly wedding experience. So, let's dive in and get veil-savvy! 💍❤️

Picture this: a beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony, a gentle breeze blowing through the air, and a bride gracefully walking down the aisle... until the wind decides to play mischievously with her veil! 🌬️💨 As makeup artists, we know that wind and veils don't always go hand in hand. By asking about the veil, we can take preemptive measures to secure it properly, ensuring our bride's makeup remains flawless throughout the celebration.

Every bride dreams of that picture-perfect "you may now kiss the bride" moment, and we're here to make it a reality! 💋💞 Choosing the right lipstick is essential, especially when a veil is involved. Dark, bold shades or long-lasting formulas might be ideal for everyday wear, but they can transfer onto the veil fabric or fade over time. By discussing lipstick choices, we can guide our brides toward smudge-proof, long-lasting formulas that will withstand the veil's touch and create stunning, kissable moments.

Veils come in various styles and lengths, ranging from ethereal, cascading veils to chic birdcage options. Each style complements different bridal looks, and as makeup artists, we should consider how the chosen veil interacts with the makeup. For example, a long, flowing veil may require adjusting the eye makeup to maintain a harmonious balance, while a birdcage veil might call for a more dramatic lip color. By knowing the veil style, we can tailor the makeup to create a cohesive, breathtaking bridal appearance.

The way a veil is positioned can greatly impact both the overall look and the makeup application. Veils can be attached at various points on the head, such as above an updo or at the crown, and each placement requires a different approach. Understanding the bride's intended hairstyle and veil placement allows us to plan the makeup accordingly, ensuring that no details clash and the bride's vision comes to life flawlessly.

In the world of bridal makeup, it's the little things that make a big difference. By asking the seemingly small question, "Do you plan on wearing a veil?" we demonstrate our attention to detail and dedication to creating the perfect bridal look. Consider the wind factor, guide lipstick choices, harmonize makeup with different veil styles, and align the veil placement with the hairstyle. Together, let's make every bride feel like a true vision on her special day! 👰✨💕

Makeup for Small Eyes!

November 30, 2021

Small eyes can be a challenge to apply makeup to and for someone to do on themselves. I am going to drop a few tips and tricks on how to accommodate for this. Now, remember, give yourself some grace and practice to make the process your own.

My first tip is to get yourself a double sided flesh colored pencil. One side can be a highlighter with a shimmer and the other side can be a matte finish. You may also find ones that have a concealer on one side…whichever the case, these type of pencils will suit you. The matte color is going to be placed on the lower water line of your eye which is right above your bottom lashes. I know this may sound weird to you but trust me, it works! After applying, blink a couple of times for the color warm up. This acts as a highlight against the whites of your eyes and inherently makes them look bigger and brighter. An old Hollywood trick. With the shimmery side, place that highlight on your brow bone under the mid point or highest point of your brow and blend. You want to give the illusion that there is as much space as possible from brow to eye. If you do not have an arch to your brow then get one ;))) !

Next, if you do not have a half size eyelash curler, then you may want to purchase. I have one from MAC that I use. Just think of a full lash curler but half the size, Sometimes those that have smaller eyes, can’t fit their full set of lashes into a curler so that can be frustrating. This smaller lash curler enables you to curl your lashes section by section. Then in this same category….mascara. For the best results, I think a mascara that has a smaller thinner, more detailed wand is best for smaller eyes and lashes. You will be able to coat your lashes from root to tip much easier because you will be able to control the wand much easier in comparison to a much thicker or larger wand. Try out SENNA Cosmetics Lash Detail Mascara! It’s only $5!! If you are so inclined, you can always layer another mascara type on top for volume and length added.

My final makeup tips for smaller eyes is to not to use darker shadows like black around your eye area as this can close up the eye even more. Try using shimmery shadows or lighter matte colors depending on your skin texture. Also, try and highlight the inner corners of your eyes as this also gives the impression that your eyes are farther apart and more wide and awake. If you have hooded eyes as well…try using a neutral shade on your crease like in the picture above to give the illusion that it’s pushed back and not coming forward.
